Despite not having any A-listers in the film, Karan Darra’s directorial venture Khamoshiyan has fared decently at the ticket windows…
Last Friday, three films released together – Gurmeet Choudhary, Ali Fazal and Sapna Pabbi’s erotic thriller Khamoshiyan, Ayushmann Khurrana-Pallavi Sharda’sHawaizaada and lastly Manish Gupta’s directorial venture Rahasya. Though none of films witnessed dhamakedaar opening, television heartthrob Gurmeet’s debut film has surprisingly done good business till now. Khamoshiyan has been running in the cinema halls for a week now and so far it has collected Rs 11.30 crore which i impressive as the film doesn’t star any established actor/actress.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on the popular social networking site Twitter a while back,”#Khamoshiyan Fri 1.92 cr, Sat 2.21 cr, Sun 2.54 cr, Mon 1.33 cr, Tue 1.27 cr, Wed 1.10 cr, Thu 93 lacs. Total – 11.30 cr. India biz.”
Now this certainly calls for a party because Karan’s film has been made on a budget of Rs 11 crore and within one week it has managed to recover the cost. Also, the makers have already minted Rs Rs 7.5 crore through satellite and music rights. So Khamoshiyan has turned out to be a a profitable venture and we won’t be surprised if a success bash is thrown pretty soon.
